This past weekend, our Abe-Robots, made up of Lanphier and Springfield High students, competed at the St. Louis Regional FIRST Robotics Competition. The team had their best finish ever, earning: • First Back-Up Alliance • Advanced to alliance play • 4th place in the Semi-Finals A special thank you to the Springfield Urban League and District 186 for their continued support in helping our students grow as future STEM leaders and innovators. The Lanphier High School Life Skills students enjoyed learning outside the classroom today. Thanks to a generous grant from the Springfield Public Schools Foundation, students practiced appropriate social skills while eating lunch at China Star and learning how to navigate around on SMTD city busses. These powerful learning experiences directly benefit their employability after they leave Lanphier, and ensures they become productive members of society.

If you own a business in Springfield and would love to partner with our program by hosting 9-20 students with staff on a rotating basis, please reach out to Jennifer hawkins (jhawkins@sps186.org) and Ron Logsdon (rlogsdon@sps186.org) to learn how to become a host location at no cost to you. Ideas include simple janitorial, mailing, filing, paper work, filling envelopes, collating, etc. Even if it is as needed, once a month, or once a week, we’d love to discuss it with you.

If you weren't at Lanphier last night, you missed a "fine" time... Fine Arts, that is... the Fine Arts Department shared their talents with a pot luck of different cultural cuisines, art projects to make and take, and vocal performances and instrumental music for all to enjoy. Students and their families filled the Atrium and everyone made sure to get dessert! 🎭🎨🎶🎤🍰

Friday we are feeling INSIDE OUT before SPRING BREAK! Students and staff wear the color that represents how you are feeling. You can even wear a SOLID color hat that matches the feeling. (Must be solid color.) Joy (Yellow): Driven by optimism, she acts as the leader aiming to keep Riley happy and positive. Sadness (Blue): Represents empathy and melancholy, crucial for processing change and connecting with others. Anger (Red): Ensures fairness and reacts to injustice, often taking charge during stressful, frustrating situations. Fear (Purple): Manages safety, caution, and risk assessment to protect Riley from harm. Disgust (Green): Protects Riley from being socially or physically poisoned (e.g., broccoli, peer pressure). Anxiety (Orange): Introduces forward-thinking, protective, but often overwhelming concern for future scenarios. Envy (Cyan): Reflects the desire for what others have, common in puberty. Ennui (Indigo): Represents apathy, boredom, and teenage disinterest. Embarrassment (Pink): Signifies shyness and social awkwardness. Nostalgia (Taupe): Evokes bittersweet memories of the past. What color will you wear?
